FlightStats Lite 1.0

FlightStats Lite for Android is a new application and is now available as a free download from the Android Market. It leverages Android’s user interface and local database to make it easy to search for flights, airport information and airline contacts. An auto-suggest features for airline and airport names keeps data entry to a minimum. Results are displayed on Mobile.flightstats.com Web pages. Android’s ability to run browsers and applications simultaneously makes the user experience seamless. Navigation between the app’s search functions and the mobile Web results pages is as simple as pushing the phone’s “back” button.

New Features for FlightStats for Android 2.0

For users that want to organize their flights in advance and store them for use on the day of travel, FlightStats for Android 2.0 adds a new Trips feature. Users can create trips and save flights associated with those trips. A widget can keep those trips on the Phone’s home screen and provide quick updates of flight status for all flights associated with a trip.

In addition version 2.0 helps travelers shorten layovers and avoid getting stranded with a unique flight availability feature that shows empty seats on flights leaving in the current time period. The Next Available Flight feature can also show elite travelers what flights offer the possibility of an upgrade by showing empty seats by fare class.

Version 2.0 also includes FlightStats airport delay maps. These maps show departure delays at airports across an entire region. These are the only maps of their kind showing airport conditions in Europe, East Asia, Oceania, and North America. The app also includes a US FAA delays map.

Version 2.0 is available as a free upgrade for existing FlightStats for Android users and for $ 6.99 for new users. Both applications may be found in the Android Market when viewing the market using any Android Phone.
